The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) has issued a “last warning” to seven state governors to free pro-Biafra activists being held in police and military formations in their states or face dire consequences. It also dismissed the peace team set up by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) to negotiate with the Federal Government on behalf of the Niger Delta people. The affected governors include Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Willie Obiano (Anambra), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Rochas Okorocha (Imo) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia state). However, in a surprise move, yesterday, the group which has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on oil and gas installations across the Niger Delta, and frowned at several calls for talks, said it was ready to engage the Nigerian government in dialogue. Youths in Plateau State have warned  the state government not to designate  any land in the state as grazing reserves. The youths,  under the aegis of Plateau G-17 Youths for Peace and Progress Forum, said that the proposed grazing reserves were not in the interest of the people of the state. The group, who staged a protest at the Plateau State Government House on Monday,  asked  Governor Simon Lalong to delist the state from the states said to have contributed land for grazing reserves in the state. The Converner of the protest, Mr. Dachung Bagos, advised the governor to be careful not to take a decision that  would mortgage the future of generations yet unborn with the likely consequences of further throwing the state into a state of chaos as the policy had been rejected by majority of the people of the state. In a letter dated 2-6-16 and signed by one Mr. Victor Okasoga, a Senior Manager in charge of Human Resources, the management said the appointments of the affected workers have been terminated with effect from June 13, 2016. The letter directed those affected to handover all company properties in “your possession especially your identity cards to the Head of Center,” adding, “failure to surrender company properties in your possession may delay the processing of your entitlements.” It would be recalled that the affected workers, including reporters, cameramen, presenters and producers, had three weeks ago protested the non payment of their salaries. Bankers Committee which is the umbrella body of all the chief executives of all the Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria, are proposing to limit over the counter withdrawals to N10, 000. According to the body, the objectives of this policy if passed by the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN will include greater use of electronic banking and smaller workforce. The banking sector have been carrying out serious restructuring with many staff been sacked in recent times...
