 High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Apo, Abuja, on Wednesday dismissed a fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by a former Minister of Aviation Mr. Femi Fani-Kay‎ode, seeking an order releasing him from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Fani-Kayode, the spokesperson for the then Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Organisation‎ for the 2015 election, ‎had filed the suit following his arrest by the EFCC on May 9, 2016 with respect to criminal allegations relating to diversion of funds meant for arms procurement to political campaigns. The anti-‎graft agency arraigned him alongside a former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman, who was the Director of Finance of the campaign organisation‎ and others for money laundering before a Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday. The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command on Sunday arrested seven hoodlums at the Ejigbo area and two pickpockets at the Mile 2/Maryland axis. While the seven suspects were arrested in a street fight, the two other pickpockets were picked up after they had successfully removed three phones from commuters in different Bus Transit Rapid (BRT) buses. THISDAY gathered that the fight was between two opposing factions known as Agbole boys and Coker boys, who unleashed mayhem beside the NNPC jetty at Ejigbo. Operatives of the RRS were called in and they arrested the feuding groups and have since transfered to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID). The Federal Government is to consult with beneficiaries and other concerned parties on the restructuring and refocusing of the multi-billion Naira Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWin) programme, with the objective of injecting new ideas for its sustainability, the finance ministry has said. The programme, initiated by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 as part of the government’s job creation initiatives, provides grants to about 1200 people to start small businesses each year. It also made provisions for the training of entrepreneurs. A statement from the ministry said 18, 000 young entrepreneurs were trained in various aspects of Small and Medium Enterprises management and business skills; and 3, 900 of them, including 1, 200 women, were each given non-repayable take-off grants for businesses of their choice ranging from N1 million up to a maximum of N10 million. NFL player Zurlon Tipton died on Tuesday June 28th, after accidentally shooting himself at a Michigan car dealership, according to reports from The Detroit News. 26 year old Zurlon pulled into the service bay at a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership in Roseville, Michigan, at around 9:30 a.m on Tuesday and reached for a duffel bag, which had two guns inside.
